An Easter Message

Some of the many butterflies in my garden

Hi all!

Things got fairly busy for quite a while, and typing up my sermon thoughts never happened. Hence my sermon blog not getting updated. And now at this very unusual time, thing have gotten even crazier. But one thing I am doing is upping my video content for school devotions.

I thought I might re-open this blog, and add some of the videos that I’m making for school (or at least those parts of the videos that don’t have students in them and I’m able to share in a public forum). I can’t share the Holy Week video we made at the end of last term as that did have significant student involvement, but this was my message to the Primary Years for the first week back to term.

It’s a reminder of the words that are repeated in Matthew 28:1-10 – “Do not be afraid”. As the butterfly is a strong symbol of Easter and the resurrection, it can also be a symbol for us in this time of isolation and change…how can this time be a chrysalis for us, helping us to grow our wing in a different way?

I’ve been trying to give my students optional follow-up activities. Here’s the butterfly origami video that I made available to them, and below is the template that they could print off.
